“Lada Quality”

First, take a look at the state of the car. Then look at the sticker on the back window. Then look at the quality of the car once more.

For those who can’t read finnish, the sticker on the back window of the car reads “Strong Lada Quality”, loosely translated.

I understand how car manufacturers and dealerships love slapping these stickers on their cars, advertising quality or features, to name a few things. And when the car is in tip top quality, the slogan doesn’t lie. (I don’t see is applying to a Lada, but nevertheless)

But after years of use, and in the case of this particular car, years of neglect, the sticker

becomes ironic in a sense. I assume that this is not the image that Lada wishes to portray to potential customers…

Note: although the sticker is in finnish, Lada is a Russian car brand.

Playing Soccer In A Urinal

Sure, playing soccer with your piss is not what you would first think of while at a urinal, but this being the urinal of a sports bar, it’s a fantastic touch. Add to that the tv screen above the urinals, and it really makes you want to keep peeing…

I strongly recommend this bar if you’re in Helsinki. It’s not the biggest sports bar in town, but I love it. It’s got a free foosball table, some 30 tv screens, an arcade section, every booth has a tv screen, great food, great staff…

In case you don’t speak Finnish, the ad is for a gas mask (5 euros). The text reads, loosely:

Does not fill official safety regulations!

 Right, so, um, the gas masks the Finnish Army used to use did not fill official safety regulations? Interesting… Now I know why we could always get a healthy wiff of the tear gas…

Gucci Is So Last Year…

Noticed a funny bit of graffiti on a wall at the bus stop on Länsiväylä, near Westend… I really would’ve wanted to have seen what the person who wrote that graffiti looked like…

Note: At last check, the graffiti had been removed… Most tags are left as they are, but the funny ones are washed away. Or did Gucci complain?
